Description

Horror is a type of literature that is meant to scare you. How does it succeed in this? What, in today’s incredibly horrifying world, can scare us anymore? Actually, quite a lot. This course will examine the story of horror such as that found in both“classic” texts like Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived in the Castle, the tales of Edgar Allan Poe—and in recent works by writers such as Stephen King and Ramsey Campbell.
