Description
This three-credit course will offer students a broad overview of the law of corporate compliance and corporate governance – two related areas essential to understanding the legal and ethical duties that regulated business organizations face in today’s society. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of administrative agencies and regulations in compliance and the federal statutes and relevant international guidelines applicable to this area, as well as ideal internal controls and procedures relevant to ensuring compliance across multiple industries.This course will place special emphasis on the growing phenomenon of whistleblowing, specifically internal whistleblowing and reporting, as an increasingly important tool for ensuring compliance with legal norms.
