Description
Through readings in English and the viewing of Japanese cinema, this course introduces students to contemporary Japanese literature, language, communication styles, and cultural backgrounds. Student discussion will also consider especially pressing issues in Japan today, for example, the role and future of women in this traditionally male-oriented society. (Students will receive credit for AAS 4905, CMP 4905, or JPS 4905. These courses may substitute for each other in the F-replacement policy).
This course may be used as an elective within the Asian and Asian American Studies (AAAS) minor. The course may not serve as the capstone course for the AAAS minor.
