This course provides the basics of the law of real property and agency, estates in real property, real estate contracts, leases and the landlord-tenant relationship, real estate closings, condominiums and cooperatives, private restrictions on land use, and the public regulation of real property, including zoning, environmental law, and fair housing. The student will be able to comprehend the sources of real estate law, the New York judicial structure, and the procedures of a typical civil legal action, through the concept of law as a dynamic process reflecting the economic, political, and social needs of the time.
