Description
This course is a study of the principles and techniques of classical physical chemistry. The following topics are studied: the first and second laws of thermodynamics; real and ideal solutions; electrochemistry; kinetic theory of gases; and chemical kinetics and transport properties. The laboratory program covers physical chemical measurements, the treatment of experimental uncertainty, electrical measurements, and computer data processing. This course will be offered if there is sufficient demand. For students with two other upper-level (3000 or above) courses in natural sciences, this course may serve as the capstone for the Tier III minor in natural sciences.
