Classical Chinese Literature I

This course examines the major works of Chinese literature from its beginning in the second millennium B.C. to the end of the Tang Dynasty in the tenth century. Students will read the original Chinese texts in both classical and vernacular styles and learn to appreciate Chinese literature with a good sense of its historical and cultural backgrounds.
