This course focuses on communication related to memory, reconciliation, and peace. Topics include the analysis of contemporary national and transnational dialogue on public memory and reconciliation; the exploration ofcommunication in conflict prevention, peacemaking, peacekeeping, and peacebuilding in international and intercultural contexts; the examination of public discourse on significant past historical events; and the exploration of memorials and museums as sites of ongoing tension between peace and justice. Students apply theories to case studies and develop a research project on memory in peace and conflict.
