Description

This course is an intensive study of some of the major works of American literature focusing on the experiences of mixed-race people. The course may concentrate on literature about black-white biraciality or on literature about a different mixed-race demographic, depending on the instructor. Possible authors include Charles Chesnutt, James Weldon Johnson, Nella Larsen, Jean Toomer, Philip Roth, Danzy Senna, and Barack Obama. Students will receive credit for ENG 4560 or BLS 3064. These courses may not substitute for each other in the F-replacement option.NOTE: Only ENG 4560 may be used as a capstone course for the English minor or for students? College Option capstone degree requirement.
