Animation and Motion Graphics

Description

This course explores principles and methods of animation and motion graphics for design and new media arts, from content creation through production and distribution. The historical development of animation and motion graphics, contemporary practices, theoretical issues, and the relationship between the moving image and other forms of graphic communication and new media arts will be addressed in the course. The course emphasizes intersections between theory, art, and contemporary practices of cultural production. Aesthetic, theoretical, and technical issues are investigated via lectures, demonstrations, readings, and assignments. Students who take this course may choose to apply it toward a major or minor in Graphic Communication, or toward a minor in New Media Arts, but not both.PrerequisitesART 2050, or ART 3057, or NMA 2050, or NMA 3010, or departmental permission.
