Course Title
Seminar on the Anthropology of Peace and War
Department(s)
Description
Every human society must manage discord, conflict, violence, and combat. To the extent that these tendencies are kept in check, we speak of peace. When they are intense and highly organized we call them war. This seminar seeks to shed light on the many stages of intensification between peace and war and considers them through the comparative cultural perspectives of anthropology.
